Top Load Washer Shakes
|If your Top Load Washing Machine Shakes or Vibrates Check The Following|
Washing Machine Leveling
First check the level of your machine.
Check with a bubble level front to back and side to side.
Now that you have it close check from one rear corner then diagonally to the opposite front corner.
There should be no rocking. Now check the other corner to corner.
Now that it is level make sure you tighten the locking nuts on each leveling leg.
This is important it will keep your machine from needing to be releveled. Do not put machine on carpet this will cause the machine to be releveled when the carpet flattens out.
Washer Drain Pump
Next if your washer is leveled and sitting firmly.
Access the washers drain pump and remove the hose to the washers tub.
This hose will have a small amount of water use a wet vac, bucket or towel to catch this as you remove the hose.
Next remove the pump from the washing machine and check for obstructions.
Check the washers water pump impeller and make sure that it is not broken and spins freely. If all looks good there check the washers drain hoses for obstructions.
Check that the washing machines water pump is running.
Washing Machine Suspension Rods
Some washers(GE)(All New Toploaders) use suspension rods that the tub hangs off of.
These usually do not break. What happens is the springs get weak.
You will need to remove the front panel or top cabinet to check these. The washers tub will hang off of the rods and have dampers at the ends. You will find one rod in each corner totaling 4 suspension rods total.
Check that the dampers are firmly attached and the washers tub hangs evenly. These kind of washing machine tubs suspend in the air and always sway back, forward, let and right.
Some washer use Snubber Blocks that help reduce vibration in the appliance.
These do wear out over time. There are usually 8 on your machine in each corner.
